Dr. David M. Hall is a schoolteacher and the founder and Executive Director of ILI Travel. He has studied, backpacked, and run trips to 39 countries and territories around the world. As a college student he studied abroad on Semester at Sea and backpacked, through India, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Central America, and more. Even in college he was contributing to others’ traveling by writing for Transitions Abroad. He and his wife honeymooned by backpacking in Peru. Today his own family, including his children starting as young as 8, have participated in service learning trips in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Dr. Hall is passionate about helping foster growth through crossing cultures. In fact, he says that between his family, teaching profession, and trips abroad, he has all that he’s ever wanted in life.
Dr. Hall is a leader in our community. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Pennsylvania, a former member of the Board of Directors of A Woman’s Place, a Bucks County shelter for survivors of relationship violence, and a founding member and founding co-chair of Out & Equal Philadelphia. Dr. Hall is also the recipient of a wide array of teaching and humanitarian awards, including but not limited to:
- Volunteer of the Year, United Way of Bucks County
- Outstanding Alumnus, Widener University
- Teacher of the Year, Pennsylvania Jaycees
- Teacher as Hero, National Liberty Museum
Dr. Hall has four books published. His first book, Allies at Work: Creating a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Inclusive Work Environment, has been part of his workplace trainings at Target, Hershey, Merck, Disney, NCAA, and many others. He is also the editor of three editions of Taking Sides: Family and Personal Relationships. Dr. Hall also blogged for CNN on bullying prevention and LGBTQ inclusion. He has also worked extensively with Pennsylvania United Way organizations on bullying prevention in schools.
Dr. Hall lives in Bucks County, PA where he and his wife are raising their children and dog.
