About ILI Foundation
ILI Foundation exists to support intergenerational volunteering at home and abroad. We believe that we strengthen both our community and our family when we volunteer together across multiple generations (e.g., parent-child, grandparent-grandchild, etc.).
We believe in helping our neighbors at home and abroad with locally-defined sustainability goals. Activities can range from breast cancer awareness in our community to building a sustainable garden for a community living in extreme poverty in another country.
Volunteering can be parent-child, grandparent-grandchild, or other approaches. Non-traditional families are welcome with open arms.
Our Board of Directors currently consists of leaders from the United States and the Dominican Republic.
David M. Hall, Ph.D.
President of the Board of Directors
Luis Galvez
Vice President and Board Member
Senior Galvez was born in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, in 1971 and has always lived there since then. He worked for the Peace Corps as a Spanish instructor. He has also taught Spanish to volunteers from around the world. For almost 10 years, Mr. Galvez has spent tens of thousands of hours of working as a tour director.
That includes organizing programs in the Dominican Republic, facilitating reflections to ensure meaning, managing emergencies to the doctors’ offices, pharmacies, and other places.
Senior Galvez is the Senior Director of Service Learning in the Dominican Republic for ILI Travel, and he is a board member of the ILI Foundation. As Senior Director of Service Learning he works with the locals – from non-profit organizations to create service learning opportunities to training and managing our Tour Directors – to ensure the highest standards are met by our organization.
His work involves not just management but so much more. He also ensures that we are volunteering with a grassroots understanding and working toward locally-identified needs. He spends each day ensuring that we are adhering to economic, educational, and environmental sustainability.
